Amazeum is shutting down soon :(
This is the hardest message I've ever had to share. Amazeum will be closing its doors by 31st August 2026. :(
I know this will come as a shock to many of you. But unfortunately, we have no other choice given the untenable financial circumstances.
It's been an incredible journey, and I would love to share some of the milestones with you in this post... And also share some thoughts on how we plan to make the last days of Amazeum memorable!
How Amazeum came into being…
The idea for Amazeum was triggered in 2014 when I was struggling to find meaningful play spaces for my (then) 2-year-old son.
I was unhappy that children's play spaces in Pune were limited to soft play areas, trampoline parks or (sigh) video game arcades. Why didn't we have play spaces which were hands-on, experiential and fun for kids?
At that time, I came across the idea of a Children's Museum and was blown away by how amazing and different it was. I wanted to build something like that in Pune! I did extensive research and visited many children's museums in the US. I also consulted with several experts from the field. It was exhilarating—researching children's museums, searching for the right space, designing every detail, and building it ourselves from the ground up.
A Memorable Seven-year Journey
Eventually, after several years of struggle, Amazeum Children's Museum, Pune, opened its doors on 18th May, 2019.
I know, great timing, right? The pandemic hit us hard in 2020-21. But we bounced back and worked hard to make Amazeum a unique space - a place where children could truly play, explore, create and discover. We wanted every child to find something they loved. Whether it was building, experimenting, creating, role-playing, exploring, or simply letting their imagination run wild. Every child is different, and we wanted to celebrate that.
The last seven years have been an amazing journey, and I am incredibly grateful.
To every parent who told us, "My child absolutely loves this place."
To every child who refused to leave because they were having too much fun.
To every teacher who trusted us with their students and appreciated what we had created.
To every family who celebrated birthdays, festivals, Halloween, Christmas, Father's Day, Mother's Day, LEGO workshops and so many other special moments with us.
A Huge Thank you!!!
For seven wonderful years, children filled these walls with curiosity, laughter and imagination—and that is something we'll always be proud of.
Sometimes even good things have to come to an end
Unfortunately, while the love for Amazeum was overwhelming, the economics never quite worked out. The extremely high rentals and inadequate footfalls have made it impossible for us to sustain the museum.
This is not a decision we ever wanted to make. But sometimes, even good things have to come to an end.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for believing in us. Thank you for every visit, every recommendation, every birthday celebrated, every appreciation and every memory you've helped create.
Before we close our doors, however, we'd love to welcome you one last time
Come build one more cool tower.
Paint one more unique masterpiece.
Solve one more challenge.
Blow one more giant bubble.
Make one more memory with us!
